K2 Base Camp

A 15-day K2 Base Camp trek is one of the most thrilling and scenic trekking adventures in the world. It takes you deep into the Karakoram Range, offering breathtaking views of some of the highest peaks, including K2 (8,611m), Broad Peak (8,051m), and Gasherbrum I & II. The trek is challenging, but the reward is an unforgettable experience in one of the most remote and stunning landscapes on Earth.

15-Day K2 Base Camp Trek Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival in Skardu (2,228m)

  • Fly from Islamabad to Skardu (weather permitting) or take a 24-hour drive via the Karakoram Highway.
  • Rest and explore Skardu.

Day 2: Skardu – Rest & Preparation

  • Final gear check and permits processing.
  • Optional sightseeing (Shigar Fort, Satpara Lake).

Day 3: Drive to Askole (3,000m) – 6-7 hours

  • A thrilling jeep ride through rough mountain roads.
  • Askole is the last human settlement before the wilderness.

Day 4: Trek to Jhola (3,200m) – 6-7 hours

  • First day of trekking along the Braldo River.

Day 5: Trek to Paiju (3,450m) – 6-7 hours

  • Spectacular views of Cathedral Peak and Trango Towers.

Day 6: Acclimatization & Rest at Paiju

  • Rest day to adjust to the altitude.

Day 7: Trek to Khoburtse (3,930m) – 6-7 hours

  • Walk alongside the Baltoro Glacier, witnessing massive ice formations.

Day 8: Trek to Urdukas (4,050m) – 4-5 hours

  • Closer views of Great Trango Tower and Muztagh Tower.

Day 9: Trek to Goro II (4,300m) – 6-7 hours

  • First distant view of K2 emerges.

Day 10: Trek to Concordia (4,650m) – 5-6 hours

  • Called the “Throne Room of the Gods,” this is where K2, Broad Peak, Gasherbrum peaks surround you.

Day 11: Trek to K2 Base Camp (5,150m) & Return to Concordia – 9-10 hours

  • The ultimate moment: standing at K2 Base Camp with the mighty peak in front.
  • Return to Concordia for the night.

Day 12: Trek back to Goro II – 5-6 hours

Day 13: Trek to Khoburtse – 5-6 hours

Day 14: Trek to Jhola – 6-7 hours

Day 15: Trek to Askole & Drive to Skardu

  • Celebrate the successful trek in Skardu!

Best Time for K2 Base Camp Trek

✔ June to September – Best weather with clear skies.
✔ Avoid winter due to extreme cold and snowfall.

Difficulty Level

🔴 Strenuous – Requires good fitness & prior trekking experience.
